Taiwan-based LED firms Epistar, Everlight Electronics and Lextar Electronics all saw their January consolidated revenues decline.

Lextar's consolidated revenues for the month reached NT$958.5 million, falling 9.01% sequentially and 18.61% on year. The LED packaging service provider said the decrease was due to off-season effects on demand for backlighting and lighting, and fewer working days arising from 2017 Lunar New Year holidays in late January.

Lextar said it will apply new technology to LED backlighting and hike shipment proportion for high-end products featuring WCG (wide color gamut), HDR (high dynamic range), high contrast and high color saturation in 2017. For LED lighting products, Lextar said it will increase shipments of stand-alone LED lamps and add functions of light dimming or wireless control for smart lighting.

LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Epistar posted consolidated revenues of NT$1.682 billion (US$53.4 million) for January, slipping 18.59% on month and 22.87% on year. Epistar said it will focus on improvement in product mix instead of revenue growth in first-quarter 2017.

LED packaging service provider Everlight recorded January consolidated revenues of NT$2.039 billion, dropping 19.57% on month and 15.35% on year. Despite the revenue drop in January, Everlight expects consolidated revenues and profitability for 2017 to increase on year.
